Giant Bubbles Recipe

We had the absolute pleasure of being included at Arts Goggle last weekend in the children’s space, Magnolia Make Believe, with a number of wonderful Fort Worth organizations that provided the best play activities for families. We would be remiss not to mention that one of our favorite people, Bethany Fort of CocoonBoom, had the vision for this year’s MMB and we’re pretty sure everyone that stopped by agrees that it was the best kids’ space at Arts Goggle yet.

Our booth was the Bubble Station, and we were blown away by how many kids stopped by and stayed to make giant bubbles for a long time (sorry, parents!) These bubbles were magical, and we wanted our recipe with you so you can recreate the magic at home.

The Magic Bubble Solution Recipe

  • 2 gallon bucket with lid for storage (the Home Depot paint bucket is perfect)

  • 1 1/2 cups blue Dawn Ultra

  • 1/2 cup vegetable glycerin

  • 1 1/2 gallons warm or hot water

  • 1 1/2 tbsp baking soda

Instructions:

  1. For best results, prep your solution the day before you plan to use it

  2. Add warm or hot tap water to your bucket

  3. Add dishwashing liquid to your bucket

  4. Add glycerine and baking powder, and mix well to combine

  5. Let the solution sit overnight and stir before using

We liked using these bubble wands which come with a tray and string wands (for older kids).

We modified this excellent giant bubble recipe from Instructables by using vegetable glycerin, which is less expensive than J-Lube.
