Cross Timbers Park
Cross Timbers Park offers more than a typical playground day, with rope bridges, trails, wildlife, and plenty of space for the whole family to explore!
Cross Timbers Park is a solid pick when we want a longer playtime!
The rope bridges are our favorite part! The kids love the wobble and challenge of crossing them, and they'll go back and forth several times before moving on. The playground is right there too(which is equally amazing!) , but the bridges usually get the most attention.
There's also a good trail system, with both paved and unpaved paths. We'll do an easy walk or bike ride on the paved trails, or take the unpaved ones if we want something a bit more rugged!
There's a 9 hole disc golf course too! It's such an easy way to get everyone involved, not just the kids.
Another pro for this park is that the large part of the park is a protected preserve, with wetlands, prairie, forest, and post oak savannah habitats!
It's common to spot birds and other wildlife while walking through, which makes it feel a little different from a typical neighborhood park. This makes it good for some nature scavenger hunt!
When we need a break, there are pavilions and picnic tables for lunch, plus restrooms and parking nearby!
