Trinity Park
Trinity Park is perfect for a full day of family fun, with playgrounds, a duck pond, climbing rocks, and plenty of trails to explore!
Trinity Park is a bigger outing than most of our usual park trips! It's way more massive than other parks and it's tucked right into the Cultural District near the museums and Botanic Gardens, so it's easy to turn into a full day out!
The playground at Dream Park alone is worth the visit. Dream Park is designed to be accessible for kids of all abilities, so it's a place where everyone can play together.
The duck pond nearby is another favorite stop, though we make sure not to feed the ducks since human food isn't actually good for them. Watching the waterfowl, especially in winter when different species pass through, is entertaining enough on its own.
Behind the duck pond hides a small playground, which offers an alternate play area away from Dream Park, which can get crowded on the weekends. The kids always find their way to the rocks scattered around the park. Plus, there's something about climbing on them that keeps kids entertained way longer than we expect, and it's a nice break from the usual playground equipment.
If the kids have extra energy, the trail system connects to the larger Trinity River Trails, over 100 miles of paved paths that stretch across the city. We usually just walk a short stretch, but it's nice knowing there's room to go further if we ever want to.
The park is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily! Between the playground, the rocks, the pond, and the trails, it's easy to spend a whole morning or afternoon here without running out of things to do.
